NEWS: COUNTDOWN TO THE ETERNAL ZERO ON UK DVD

You'll have to forgive the uninspired title change, but then, it really shouldn't surprise UK viewers. We're used to this kind of thing by now. The important thing to take away from this is the fact that The Eternal Zero is finally being released on DVD in the UK. Sorry, The Fighter Pilot is being released in the UK. Because, you know, he's a fighter pilot and all that...

Director Yamazaki Takashi (Space Battleship Yamato) takes us to the skies of the Pacific War in The Eternal Zero. Based on the novel by Hyakuta Naoki, the war drama chronicles a young man's investigation into the life of his biological grandfather, a kamikaze pilot who died during the war. Topping the Japanese box office for eight consecutive weeks, The Eternal Zero is the fifth highest-grossing live-action Japanese film of all time. Oh, and it's yours to own from July 20, 2015.

Synopsis: A young man and his sister learn that the man that they've always thought of as their grandfather was in fact the second husband of their grandmother, and that their biological grandfather was a kamikaze pilot who died during the war. They decide to find out more about him but get conflicting accounts from his former comrades-in-arms about what kind of man he was and how he ended up in a kamikaze squadron.
