NEWS: MIIKE GETS HIS GIRL FOR BLADE OF THE IMMORTAL

Hana Sugisaki (Mozu The Movie) has been cast in the upcoming live-action film, Blade of the Immortal, starring Takuya Kimura (Space Battleship Yamato). The live-action film is based on the manga series, Mugen no Junin, by Hiroaki Samura and will be directed by the legend-that-is, Takashi Miike (Audition).

The series is set in Japan during the mid-Tokugawa Shogunate period and follows the cursed samurai Manji, who has to kill 1000 evil men in order to regain his mortality. The trailer at the link probably explains it better.

In the new movie, due out in Japan on April 29, 2017, Hana Sugisaki will play lead female character Rin Asano. Her character seeks out to avenge the murder of her family. She hires Manji (Takuya Kimura) as a bodyguard in her quest for revenge. Sounds like your typical blood-stained Takashi Miike affair. Count us in.
