We were big fans of Hideo Nakata's return to form with 2013's The Complex. This year he'll be returning to the horror genre with new movie, Gekijourei (Theatre Spirit), set for release in Japan on November 21, 2015. We don't know much about the plot but we do know it is set within a theatre (probably a creepy one) and lots of actresses are attacked there as they struggle to escape. Not exactly a stretch for Hideo Nakata then...
Gekijourei features the first lead acting role for AKB48 member Haruka Shimazaki. That's her in the picture below - doesn't she look like butter wouldn't melt? She auditioned for the role with all the group members of AKB48 and was selected from the audition.
In case you don't know, AKB48 (pronounced "A.K.B. forty-eight") is a Japanese idol girl group named after the Akihabara (Akiba for short) area of Tokyo, where the group's theatre is located. There were originally 48 members but as of August 2014, the group has expanded to 140 members aged from their early teens to their mid-20s. Isn't it nice when we learn something new?
