Hold onto your hats folks. A new teaser trailer has dropped
for Gareth Evans' action packed sequel to The Raid, probably the most critically
acclaimed action movie of the last ten years. I'm pretty sure you'll be wanting to check out the
trailer for yourself first, but what do we know about The Raid 2: Berandal so
far? We know that Berandal picks up two hours after the events of The
Raid, and that the film is likely to pit Rama (Uwais) against his brother, Andi
(Donny Alamsyah), following the latter’s inheritance of his own criminal
empire. Other than that, we can only guess at what Evans has in store.
Or at least we could, until now. The Raid 2 is scheduled for
release in the U.S. in March 2014 and Evans has gone on record to say that the
second film is the one he wanted to make in the first place. If The Raid was
his back-up plan, it’s hard to imagine what he has in store for us this time
out. But we’ll certainly be there. You, me and the fridge. The new trailer
doesn't give much away, but the fast editing and jump cuts provide evidence of
dastardly villains, electrifying car chases and one very moody hero. Can Gareth
Evans follow his stunning entry in the V/H/S series with another winner? This
is going to be a knockout. AW
