NEWS: THE PIRATES SET SAIL FOR AMERICA

We're going to avoid pirate puns on this one, we're better than that I promise. Following their collaboration in the television revenge melodrama, Shark, Son Ye Jin (The Tower) and Kim Nam Gil (Portrait of a Beauty) pair up on the big screen for the decidedly different action blockbuster, The Pirates.

Taking on her first action role, for which she won Best Actress at the 51st Daejong Film Awards, Son Ye Jin stars as the captain of a pirate crew, while Kim Nam Gil plays the soldier-turned-outlaw leader of a squabbling bandit clan. The two hit the high seas in pursuit of the ultimate bounty – a giant whale that has swallowed the king's royal seal.

Effects are strong and Johnny Depp isn't in it, which can only be a good thing after recent escapades. Directed by Lee Suk Hoon (Dancing Queen), the striking action adventure features Yu Hae Jin (Tazza: The Hidden Card), Lee Kyung Young (Kundo: Age of the Rampant), Kim Tae Woo (The Face Reader), Oh Dal Soo (The Thieves), Lee Yi Kyung (White Night) and f(x)'s Sulli.

One more thing, if you check out Amazon this week, you can pick up the blu-ray for less than the cost of the DVD. No word on an official UK release date yet but we'll keep you posted on that one.
