ONE TO WATCH: 30 MINUTES OR LESS (DVD)

“It’s fair to say that the majority of critics were hugely disappointed by Ruben Fleischer’s follow-up to  Zombieland, in which Nick (Jesse Eisenberg), a small town pizza delivery guy, is kidnapped by two wannabe criminal masterminds (Danny McBride and Nick Swardson), who force him to rob a bank by strapping a bomb to him. With only hours to pull off the impossible task, Nick seeks help from his ex-best friend, Chet (Aziz Ansari), still pissed at his mate for sleeping with his sister, and as the clock ticks, the two warring chums must put aside their differences in order to survive.

Don’t listen to the haters. Maybe they were expecting something a little bit bigger than this small-town crime caper, but if you’re looking for laughs, frenetic pacing and oodles of twists and turns, you won’t be dissatisfied. With two comedy double-acts turning on the charm (McBride redeeming himself for the dour Your Highness), providing us with laugh-out-loud comedy, and with director Fleischer tying it all together with his unique visual flair, 30 Minutes Or Less is over the top, at times absurd, and very funny indeed. To paraphrase Travis, if wanting a lot of fun is gay, then, yeah, I'm Elton John – recommended.” DW
