Director Gianni di Gregorio follows his debut, Mid-August Lunch (2008), with a film that could easily be confused as a sequel, as Valeria de Franciscis reprises her role as Gianni’s demanding mother and the auteur once again bags the lead. Can a wife and daughter in tow change our pestered protagonist’s luck, will the familiar plot of debt and drinking be spiced up with a bit of dating, or has this lovelorn cook over salted the porridge?
