IN OUR SIGHTS: THE GREAT WALL

WHAT IS IT? The new film from director Yimou Zhang, the man behind martial arts epics Hero, House of Flying Daggers and Curse of the Golden Flower. He's back with another period action fantasy mixed with monster mayhem. Got to admit, the monster mayhem is a neat twist. As you can tell by the trailer, the story revolves around the mysteries surrounding the construction of The Great Wall of China.

WHY? Because Matt Damn has a silly haircut and looks kind of lost. Andy Lau is in it, as is Pedro Pascal, Game of Thrones' very own Oberyn Martell. We still find that scene disturbing. Let's hope he has better luck here. Asian support is plentiful and even Willem Dafoe makes an appearance, cashing in the cheque and chewing up the scenery no doubt.

WHEN? The Great Wall is due out in China on December 16 and makes its way to the U.S. on February 17. U.K. audiences can get their fill a week later. As much as we want to love this movie, the trailer does raise concerns about the CGI overload and above all else, Matt Damon's haircut is ridiculous.
