No matter which side of the fence you're crawling out from under, The Walking Dead refuses to stop. Viewing figures are rising faster than the undead these days, which means the likelihood of a spin-off show is impossible to ignore. We love The Walking Dead here at Twistedwing, but in all honesty, it's far from perfect. There are too many insignificant characters, some of whom have outstayed their welcome, and the show does drag its heels from time to time, which kind of makes sense when you consider the subject matter.
The biggest problem we have with the show is that it doesn't always feel like it's going anywhere. We know it's the end of the world and all that, but too many of the characters we used to love have turned into whiny bitches, and a lack of direction could see The Walking Dead run out of steam long before the show-runners work out what to do with them. Adding a spin-off series might not do the original show any favours.
If Fear The Walking Dead can nail the format and make amends for the original's shortcomings, what will become of Rick and his ragtag crew? Will we stop caring? Can you really have too much of a good thing? Time will tell I guess. The Walking Dead isn't going anywhere for now, but it will be interesting to see how this one pans out...
