Which suggests, of course, that we won't be seeing the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Jet Li and Dolph Lundgren. Well, maybe Dolph Lungren, but I wouldn't bet against a Sly cameo in the opening episode. If it's good enough for Samuel L. Jackson it's good enough for anyone. Deadline reports that the project will likely be stocked with a Who’s Who of older, iconic telly action stars and possibly some of the current crop (the Strike Back team, for example). The plot is hardly inspired, revolving around a team of Expendables heading out on a mission to stop a terrorist. But then, what else were you hoping for?
If all this is true, Stallone and Lerner are on board as executive producers, with NCIS veteran writer/producer Shane Brennan working alongside screenwriter Greg Coolidge (Ride Along) and actor/writer Kirk Ward. We're very excited about this, but until we hear more news we'll be keeping it light until it's time to get dark. And then we'll get pitch black.
