NEWS: LEARNING YOUR ABCs ALL OVER AGAIN

The plan was simple. One movie made up of 26 short films, shot by up and coming directors from 15 countries. Each director was assigned a letter of the alphabet and asked to choose a word to create a story involving death. With entries varying from 30 seconds to 5 minutes in length, there was never enough time to get bored and the scattershot approach actually worked in the films favour. It was hit and miss for sure, but The ABCs of Death proved, if nothing else, that there's still plenty of life in death.

The good news is, the ABCs of Death are back. Julian Barratt of The Mighty Boosh joins the roster, along with Steven Kostanski (Manborg) and Alejandro Brugués, the director of Cuban hit Juan of the Dead. Notable inclusions this time out are Sion Sono (Suicide Club), Vincenzo Natali (Splice), Marcus Dunstan (The Collector), and France’s Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, who wowed the world with cult favourites Inside and Livid.

Jen and Sylvia Soska (American Mary) bring the female touch to proceedings, and Israel’s Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado will be upping the ante after their sublime breakthrough, Rabies. ABCs of Death 2 was expected in February but the UK release date has been pushed back. Not to worry though, you can get your hands on a copy - on both DVD and Blu-ray - on March 23, 2015.
