In 2011 we reviewed a little known, low-budget sci-fi movie
called Ink. Ink’s creation was anything but typical. The big studios didn’t
want it in the US, so Double Edge Films pitched the movie directly to
independent cinemas, DVD, Blu-ray and online distribution by themselves. It was
a move that worked, because Ink became one of the most downloaded movies on
file sharing torrent sites (400,000 times in a single week), exposing the film
to a much larger audience.
If you've yet to see Ink, believe us, it's about time you
did. It’s not always an easy watch, but the world of Ink comes together like
the words on a page. Ambitious, dreamlike and compulsive viewing from start to
finish, it writes its name at the very top of Independent filmmaking.
Well, Jamin Winans is at it again. His new feature is The
Frame, and the trailer looks fantastic. As with Ink, the producers are hoping
that positive word of mouth will give their movie the exposure it deserves. It
worked with Ink, and if the trailer for The Frame is anything to go by, they
could well have another hit on their hands.
Little is known about the plot right now, but that's
probably a good thing, because the less you know about both Ink and The Frame
the better. We'll be keeping you up to date with the film's progress and subsequent
release info, but if you haven't seen Ink yet, what are you waiting for? AW
