REVIEW: MIRANDA - DIRECTOR'S CUT (DVD)



In hindsight it isn't hard to believe that Penthouse magazine publisher Bob Guccione chose Tinto Brass to helm Caligula (1979), the big-budget adaption of Gore Vidal's novel of the same name. What is a surprise is that when Brass finished shooting the film he then refused to convert it into the flesh-flick Guccione wanted. Brass later disowned the film after seeing the botched editing, but after it became a huge international box-office hit he decided that he, too, would focus on erotica - justifying his decision by explaining that sex is a normal part of life and we should just deal with it. Either that or he realised that the colour of money is quite often pink...
