REVIEW: STUDIES IN TERROR: LANDMARKS OF HORROR CINEMA


Remember the skin-crawlingly horrible movie scene when "swaddled in a blanket on the cot within, Rodrigo's sweaty and snaggle-toothed remains are picked out in full deathly detail by the beam of Alfonso's uplifted lantern, and the moment when the corpse's withered arm indicates the whereabouts of the diabolical book?" What do you mean, no?! Don't worry, because like the rest of us, you'll probably be searching for a copy of Fernando de Fuentes' El fantasma del convento (The Phantom Of The Convent, 1934) right now, and thanks to Jonathan Rigby's excellent book, which has another 129 memorable moments, many more besides...
