"The plot is straightforward enough: a young girl is raped and strangled by the psychotic Alex (David Hess) and his retarded friend Ricky (Giovanni Lombardo Radice), who then help a wealthy couple with their car, and end up inviting themselves to their party.
With a houseful of bored socialites looking for kicks, and no idea that there are two madmen in their midst, it isn't long before the tension is broken and the party descends into an unrelenting series of rapes, mutilations, and murder. And that's about it. Apart from a twist ending that raises more questions than it answers.
You can see why it was previously banned - Italian auteur Ruggero Deodato (Cannibal Holocaust) clearly insists every female character has to get them out at some point, usually on more than one occasion, making it feel like a pretty standard soft-porn film for much of it's running time, interrupted by cartoonish violence that's completely rubbish and unrealistic, each punch or slap barely finding its target, let alone actually hurting somebody.
Hardly indulging in the red stuff until its bizarre finale, it will please the staunchest exploitation fan most, but there are no real surprises or bursts of originality, just a desire to shock with its titillating eye candy. Packed with rape, nudity and torture, you can't help but wonder how they got away with it, and yet, next year sees Deodato return with a belated sequel, focusing on one of the survivors - hot diggity to that!"
